World-renowned Italian architect Fabio Novembre delivered a much-anticipated lecture titled “Regenerating Spaces, Objects, Ideas, Relations” on April 2 at the multipurpose hall of the Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB).
The event, organised by the IAB in association with the Embassy of Italy in Dhaka, was part of the programmes marking Italian Design Day 2026.
The session began with a welcome speech by IAB President Dr Abu Sayeed M. Ahmed. State Minister for Housing and Public Works Ahammad Sohel Manjur attended as the chief guest. Special remarks were delivered by Italian Ambassador Antonio Alessandro and Chief Architect of the Department of Architecture of the Bangladesh Government, Md Asifur Rahman Bhuiyan.

In his lecture, Novembre presented his notable works and design philosophy. He emphasised how spaces can evoke feelings, tell stories, and shape human experiences, often drawing inspiration from art, cinema, and the human body.
His approach challenges conventional boundaries, merging architecture with disciplines such as fashion, product design, and visual storytelling.
Among his renowned works are the AC Milan Flagship Store, where the identity of the football club is transformed into a dynamic spatial experience; the Stuart Weitzman boutiques, where fashion and sensuality are expressed through architectural language; and the Perla store interiors, which showcase a bold fusion of the human form and aesthetics.
He also referenced projects such as the Nhow Hotel in Milan, reflecting his experimental and narrative-driven design approach. His iconic furniture pieces, including the Him & Her Chair—where the human body is abstracted into sculptural seating—introduced a provocative and artistic dimension to contemporary design thinking.

Throughout the session, Novembre’s presentation was lively, story-driven, and deeply thought-provoking. The event concluded with an engaging Q&A segment, moderated by architect Mahmudul Anwar Riyaad.
Special thanks were extended to IAB Vice President Architect Md Mahfuzul Haque Jaglul and Seminar Secretary Architect Saida Akter Mumu for their sincere efforts in successfully organising the programme.
During his Dhaka visit, Novembre led a series of events from March 30 to April 2. In addition to the IAB lecture, he held a session at Brac University, conducted a creative workshop in collaboration with furniture brand ISHO, met with local industrial organisations, and visited Italian design showrooms.
